Biochemistry tracks accredited by the ASBMB
The department's two Biochemistry concentrations (ACS track and non ACS track) have received full accreditation by the American Society for Biochemistry and Molecular Biology. The ASBMB is a premier international educational and scientific organization and one of the largest societies focused on molecular life sciecnces in the world. It's mission is to "advance the science of biochemistry and molecular biology and to promote the understanding of the molecular nature of life processes". The ASBMB is focused on scientific advocacy and diversity among other intiatives and endeavors. Both tracks have high academic standards and excellent laboratory resources. Most notably, we offer a biochemistry concencentrion that is acredited by both the American Chemical Society and the American Society for Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, making it a true standout. The research and lab experiences from these degree programs will enable students to prepare for their future careers in research, graduate and professional schools, and industry. EKU is the first school in the state of Kentucky to have a biochemistry program accredited by this organization, which speaks volumes regarding the merit of both programs.
