EKU Student Accepted for National Program
Congratulations to Kate Tran!
Kate Tran, a sophomore forensic science major at Eastern Kentucky University, has been selected as one of 15 recipients in the U.S. for the Nuclear Forensics Undergraduate Summer School. The program will be held at Washington State University for six weeks in the summer of 2015.
Selected students will get both lecture and laboratory work in areas such as nuclear decay, atomic and nuclear structure, nuclear material processes and uses, the nuclear fuel cycle, radiation detection, and environmental radiochemistry. The students will also have the opportunity to meet and work with national experts in the nuclear forensics community.
Students receive financial compensation to cover tuition, fees, housing, and meals, as well as a $5,000 stipend.
